In a saucepan at low heat, add the milk, sugar and caramel and stir constantly until it begins to boil. Remove and set aside to cool. Whip the cream until it lightly thickens. Slowly add the whipped cream to the milk and caramel mixture while stirring. Add the vanilla extract. Pour into the ice cream molds, cover and freeze.
